Lotus Box
Copper, sterling silver, nickel

One of the things I love to make are boxes. I have had an obsession with small boxes and containers since I was a little girl and discovered my mom’s decorative box on the book shelf. This wooden box had a beautiful inlaid scene of a sail boat and dock on the top and on one side had a drawer that had no visible way of opening. But on the side of the box was a small panel that slid back to reveal a catch. Push down on the catch and the drawer would spring open. It was like magic.

It is probably because of this magical discovery that the first box I made had an intricate scene on the top. My second box had a lotus flower that blooms when it is opened. I look forward to making more fancy boxes.

Boxes can currently be ordered through commission.
