We have been doing a bunch of these in my graphic novel workshop class at college taught by Theresa Williams. I’ve been having fun with them. It’s nice to be freed from a longer story and just do something quick. It reminds me of when I was a little kid drawing comic strips based on all the family pets. (There were a lot: a chinchilla, a ferret, a few cats, a dog, and endless run of gerbils and a four-and-a-half foot long iguana!) I think I’ve improved a little – and my humor’s slightly different (I don’t think I knew what necromancy meant.) from when I was ten, but the joy after making a happy little story is exactly the same.
You can check out the other assignments and see what some of my classmates have done by going to Theresa’s website theresawilliamscomicslab.wordpress.com where you’re invited to follow along and do the assignments too!
